Frequently Asked Questions for Referrers and Partners
As with most things, questions need answers. This section will present some general questions and try to answer them thoroughly, however if you need more information then raise a support ticket for support.
General Referrer Questions
What link is used to refer customers to Simply Expenses?
When you sign up as a referrer, you will choose a username which also becomes your referrer reference. Appending ?ref=[yourcode] to the end of any valid URL will allow the system to track any visitor you have referred. These are counted and reported in Referrer Administration.
How do I know that all refered visitors are correctly credited?
Two separate systems are used to record the referrer code and store it should the visitor return in the future. However, as sometimes cookies are cleared and IP addresses change this is not always reliable, especially if a long period of time has passed. If you suspect you've referred a specific user then we would like to know about it straight away (create a support ticket). It is in the interests of Simply Expenses to credit and pay as much referral commission as possible and to this end we want to keep our referrers happy.
I've referred someone and they've signed up, but didn't use my referral code. Eeek!
It happens; you mention Simply Expenses but they don't click on one of your links and find us by searching. When they sign up they'll not be assigned to your referrer account. If you know this has happened, create a support ticket and we'll get it assigned to your account. You'll need to tell us who the customer is, so please be specific. We're very keen for you to get the credit for every referral you make!
Will my referral rate increase if I refer many users?
Our standard referrer rate is 20% which doesn't change by volume. Many referrer/affiliate programmes start on much lower percentages and gradually rise to this figure with volume, but as a Simply Expenses referrer the starting rate is already the highest which we hope is motivational. This rate increases to 40% for partners, but this requires additional commitment to support and the charging of customers.
Accounting Questions
How will I know how many referrals have visited the website?
Basic statistic information is recorded when a visitor arrives on the site. Although we make no effort to identify them, we will know who the referrer is and this information is presented in Referrer Administration. Furthermore, if a visitor signs up for a trial this is presented too. For users that complete their trial and decide to keep using Simply Expenses this is reported in your transaction list and by means of a frequent email (depending on options).
How do I get paid?
Payment is made when the following conditions are met: a) the customer has paid for their use of Simply Expenses, b) your referrer balance is greater than 20.00 GBP and c) it has been at least 30 days since your last payment. Basically, we want to pay our referrers as soon after the customer has paid as we can, but only about once per month. Our aim is to keep you happy and involved.
Promoting Simply Expenses
Where, as a referrer, can I promote Simply Expenses?
We make very few hard rules about when and where you can promote Simply Expenses. To get the highest number of positive referrals you should target UK visitors with an interest in company finances. This can be done on websites, blogs, forums (discretely), social media and in email newsletters. The one rule we maintain is absolutely no mention of Simply Expenses should be made in unsolicited emails (Spam).
Can I send emails as Simply Expenses?
No. You are required to send your emails and newsletters with your own brand to avoid confusion to all involved. However, presenting a feature in a newsletter about Simply Expenses will carry more weight especially if you have subscribers that are familiar with receiving a monthly or periodic mailing.
